Open Question: Dane Cook has played two characters that are too much alike?

I just saw a preview for the upcoming movie "My Best Friend's Girl", with Dane Cook, Kate Hudson, and Jason Biggs. Well, what I heard from the preview is that Dane's character is paid to drive women back to their ex boyfriends...? Does that not sound kind of familiar, almost like the plot for "Good Luck Chuck"?! The girls do him and then the next man they meet or whatever is their true love... and now, he's doing anything he can to make the girl go back to her ex, making her somewhat regret dumping him, maybe? DESCRIPTION FOR "MY BEST FRIEND'S GIRL": Tank (Cook) faces the ultimate test of friendship when his best friend hires him to take his ex-girlfriend (Hudson) out on a lousy date in order to make her realize how great her former boyfriend is. DESCRIPTION FOR "GOOD LUCK CHUCK": In order to keep the woman of his dreams from falling for another guy, Charlie Logan has to break the curse that has made him wildly popular with single women: Sleep with Charlie once, and the next man you meet will be your true love. OK, so maybe he doesn't exactly drive women to their ex's, but he's definitely doing it to one woman... which, of course, he falls in love with. In GLC, the one woman he finally wants to spend the rest of his life with is about to marry this famous guy she's always liked and got to meet and work with, taking care of penguins I think? Also, you could relate "My Best Friend's Girl" to "How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days", because Kate, in Ten Days, she was given the task to find a man to fall in love with her, but she'd be pretty much the worse girlfriend ever; leaving her femine products at his house, being annoyingly clingy, etc. So she does all these things to scare off a guy, testing to see what does or doesn't make them want to run away. This was all for a magazine article... anyway, so she was trying to drive the guy away but it really didn't work... and in MBFG, Dane is basically scaring off the girl so she'll go back to her ex. So, do you think that these two movies have too many similar things happening? Do you see what I mean?... read more
